Office Maxes across the country are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day today, August 15, 2010. Simply stop in and show your school ID and/or your MaxPerks for Teachers card (if you don’t already have one, you’ll need to sign up for one in the store). You’ll receive a tote bag with sample products and a coupon to save 20% off everything you can stuff into the bag. Might be a great time to finish up getting those school supplies!
Here’s the official info about it. Be sure to read the fine print at the bottom of the page, as it lists several things that you won’t receive the 20% discount on, like gift cards.
Don’t forget about the Tennessee Tax-Free Days coming up this weekend! Starting Friday, August 6, at midnight and ending at 11:59 PM on Sunday, August 8, you can stock up on school supplies, clothing, and even computers up to $1500. Since our local tax rate is close to 10%, this will be a significant savings!
(Psst! If you picked up the Tullahoma News on Sunday, you can “double dip” when it comes to school supplies! Inside the paper was a brown paper bag from Office Max, offering 20% off any school supplies you can stuff inside the bag! Stuff’em on Friday or Saturday, and you’ll get them not only 20% off, but also tax-free!)
There are tons of back to school deals this week. Although it’s not the weekend for tax-free shopping yet, there are still some great deals to be had. I love stocking up while things are cheap, especially notebaook paper and crayons. The kids always seem to need more at odd times during the year, and it’s great to be able to pull some out of my stash to give to them. I stockpile everything else; why not school supplies?
So, given how busy today is going to be, instead of taking the time post to post each individual school supply deal myself, I’ve taken a quick trip around the blogosphere to provide you with some great links to those deals.
Kmart has several good deals this week, including Crayola crayons for 25 cents (limit 4). For the rest of the Kmart back to school deals, check out Erin’s post.
I’m highlighting Tara’s post on back to school deals at Staples. Lots of good deals to be had, although some of them require an “Easy Rebate,” meaning you pay for the item and get reimbursed through the mail.
