I Corinthians 13 According to Mothers

SupermomIf I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place, but have not love, I am a housekeeper–not a homemaker.

If I have time for waxing, polishing, and decorative achievements, but have not love, my children learn cleanliness–not godliness.

Love leaves the dust in search of a child’s laugh.

Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.

Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk.

Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.

Love is present through the trials.

Love reprimands, reproves, and is responsive.

Love crawls with the baby, walks with the toddler, runs with the child, then stands aside to let the youth walk into adulthood.

Love is the key that opens salvation’s message to a child’s heart.

Before I became a mother I took glory in my house of perfection.

Now I glory in God’s perfection of my child.

As a mother, there is much I must teach my child, but the greatest of all is love.

Frugal Ideas for Mother’s Day

Tin can treatsSpeaking as a mom, I have to say that the things I want most are not things that are in the store. Here’s a list of my “most wanted” this holiday:

  • Children who clean their room without my having to ask.
  • A meal cooked (and cleaned up!) by my budding chefs, who are currently taking Family and Consumer Science (a.k.a. “Roadkill 101″)
  • An afternoon to myself, preferably spent doing the deals I get to blog about, with my mom – **SO excited, because I get to do this tomorrow!**

If you’re looking for some frugal ideas for mom, here are some ideas that won’t break the bank but still just might put a tear in her eye.

A printable coupon book from the kids. Balancing Beauty and Bedlam has a great one that you can download for free, as well as a huge list of freebies you can take advantage of on the cheap to celebrate mom. You can also check out this printable coupon book from Redplum in PDF format.

Homemade survival kits. One of the best (and easiest!) ones I’ve seen for Mother’s Day is from Our Best Bites (pictured above). Anything with chocolate involved is welcome in this house!

FREE 8 x 10 Collage prints. Don’t forget to take advantage of the TWO Walgreens 8 x 10 collage prints this weekend. They’re done in an hour, and what mom doesn’t love a picture of her favorite people? Remember to choose in-store pick-up, and they’re completely free.

$40 of FREE Photo Products from Paper Coterie. The coupon code was set to expire on Friday, but it has now been extended through Sunday. Although it wouldn’t get to Mom in time for Mother’s Day, I’m sure she would be thrilled to know that it’s coming. Or write the coupon code in a card, and let her design her own photo item!

What are you doing for Mom for Mother’s Day?
